Myrtle Beach is a great beach destination for families! There is a lot to do and see. If you love seafood, Myrtle Beach beats all other East Coast beaches in seafood freshness and selection. Another Great Trip in Columbia, the Capital of South Carolina

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, In : Columbia SC
There was a Beer Fest in Columbia, SC over the weekend so we did a 2 day trip in Columbia, SC. In the past, I've only done single day trips so this was our first time staying overnight and we got to do some more exploring this time around. I am so impressed at how much Columbia is remodeling in downtown and all the businesses seem to be booming, even in the middle of January. Maybe it's because of the beer fest that attracted a lot of tourists/visitors this past weekend but still, I see a pro...

Secret Atom Bomb Dropped in Florence, SC

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Sunday, December 7, 2014, In : Florence SC
One of the few fortunate things that I was able to see for myself is the site where the bomb was dropped by the air force. Not a lot of people know about it because there was an article that said that they wanted to keep it a secret. Although the site is somewhat preserved for its history, there is a chance in the future that that site could be replaced with housing. Here are the pictures I took of the site and the bulletin board that someone put there about the history.

Jennifer's Taqueria at Florence Flea Market in South Carolina is awesome

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Sunday, December 7, 2014, In : Florence SC
The best Mexican food I've ever had in Florence, SC is at the Flea Market at a little place called Jennifer's Taqueria. Don't be deceived by its little shack. Their tacos are phenomenal with all the right fixings! Make sure you bring cash because that is all they take. My favorites are the carne asada and chicken tacos. They all come with a piece of avocado. Make sure you put some of their hot sauce on it. It's so good and authentic!

San Jose's Tacos & Tequila Review

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Thursday, June 26, 2014, In : Florence SC
We went to the San Jose's Tacos & Tequila restaurant today located at 3410 W. Radio Drive
Florence, SC 29501 and it was surprisingly nice inside. You know they spend a lot of money building the whole place inside and out. The podium was inviting and we were greeted right away by the staff who was waiting in the front.

When presented with the menu, I was very happy to see that they have California Fish Tacos on the menu. I'm originally from San Diego and I lived on fish tacos growing up! They a...

Snow Day in Florence, South Carolina

Posted by SCbeachTrips.com on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, In : Florence SC
It rarely snows in Florence, SC but last night it did. The weather channel was accurate in their predictions and all the schools and most of the businesses are also closed for today. Most residents are staying inside.

Since it usually only snows once a year around here (if we're lucky), most of us really appreciate it. Of course, it makes driving a lot more dangerous but as long as we know to stay indoors before the sleet starts, we should be okay. My husband didn't work today so we played in...

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Francis Marion University

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Friday, January 17, 2014, In : Florence SC
We had an unexpected theme this week at our home. A few days ago my husband and I watched the movie The Butler and felt really moved by the courage of a few who stood up for the millions in order to get equality. One of those figures in the movie is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A couple of days letter, I received a flyer in the mail about a public celebration for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the local university and I felt that I must attend.

It was held at the Chapman Auditorium inside of Fra...

Golden Dragon is a good deal but food is really sweet

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Sunday, January 12, 2014, In : Food
I like Chinese food but I feel like the Chinese food restaurants around Florence, SC are all overly sweet for my taste. A lot of the dishes are filled with a lot of sweet sauces that make it really overbearing for my palette. Golden Dragon is one of them. I really like how they have the twin dragons in the front and when you come inside of the restaurant, it definitely has a Chinese theme inside.

Besides for the appropriate decor, another great thing about this place is they let you order ...

Great lunch experience at Red Bone Alley in Florence, SC

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Sunday, January 12, 2014, In : Food
My husband and I went to lunch at Red Bone Alley and had such a wonderful experience. We just love dining there because of it's unique decor. The whole entire restaurant is a replica of downtown Charleston. You would not expect to find this here in Florence, SC.

We ordered their lunch specials, which are smaller portions of dinner portions of selective dishes and comes with a salad with your choice of dressing. I was impressed. They were still really busy during lunch because it was around th...

Fleet Landing is a great place for seafood in Charleston that is waterfront

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Thursday, November 21, 2013, In : Charleston
We were recommended by a couple who lived locally to dine at Fleet Landing for seafood after a romantic sailing trip. We got there around 5:30pm on a Saturday night and it was busy. There was a 20 minute wait to eat inside but no wait to eat on the patio, which is a great option if you have a coat in hand. The patio is right on the water front and you can hear the waves crashing and the moon shining while you have your dinner. My husband ordered the fried flounder with apricot glaze and I ord...

I found out about them from a TravelZoo promotion. It was a nice, relaxing time. I really like the fact that it's BYOB so we were able to bring our beverage of choice with us. We also brought some snacks to munch on. We thought 2 hours was going to breeze by really fast but it was ample time. We were the first group o...

We really appreciate the freebies he gets on Veteran's Day. We know of several businesses/franchises around the US that routinely offer freebies every year so here is a list that we know of.

Sakura Japanese Seafood & Sushi has decent sushi but great service

I was craving sushi and wanted to try Sakura Japanese Seafood & Sushi since it looks like they are usually pretty busy around lunch time, judging by the parking lot. My husband ordered some teriyaki chicken and I ordered two rolls of sushi: a crunchy roll and and a crab roll. They were okay but the server who served us was excellent. Even though it's a Japanese restaurant, it looks to me that the owners may be of Vietnamese descent. I noticed it is a trend around here.

The great thing about coming for lunch is that a complimentary salad is included with your meal. The salad is small but it's nice to have something to munch on while you're waiting for your entree. It's also pretty fresh.

Fresh Brewed Coffee House in Myrtle Beach

This is one of the more unique coffee shops I've been to. The chairs are relaxing but they don't have a menu on a board. It's all on their ipad. I was here because I had time before I had to take my real estate exam at the PSI testing center and this was the closest coffee shop nearby. One advice! Don't get their smoothies. They don't use fresh fruit. Stick to coffee. The ladies who work there need to work on getting a more better attitude. They looked gloomy when I arrived and didn't look li...

Chipotle in Florence, SC

I've always liked Chipotle and it's a great thing that it's a chain because chances are if the small towns are big enough, they will open one. I always get the barbacoa burrito with tomato salsa, black beans, sour cream and guacamole. The guacamole this time cost me 1.80 extra so my burrito turn out to be over $9 with taxes and I didn't even order a drink. I guess it's really expensive for a burrito but it's so good, I'll fork over $9 every once in a while for it.

What's a bonus is I got a go...

Tom Hum or Chinese Lobster can be found at Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant in Charlotte

We found an okay tom hum (Chinese lobster) place in Charlotte, NC. It's not comparable to Santa Ana, California but it fixes the craving. At Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant, you can order fresh lobsters and have them cooked in two styles: either ginger and scallions or Cantonese style. We picked the Cantonese style.
