Secret Atom Bomb Dropped in Florence, SC

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Sunday, December 7, 2014,
One of the few fortunate things that I was able to see for myself is the site where the bomb was dropped by the air force. Not a lot of people know about it because there was an article that said that they wanted to keep it a secret. Although the site is somewhat preserved for its history, there is a chance in the future that that site could be replaced with housing. Here are the pictures I took of the site and the bulletin board that someone put there about the history.

2 hour sailing trip review for Adventures in Sailing (Mount Pleasant, Charleston)

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Monday, November 18, 2013, In : Charleston

For our first year wedding anniversary, I surprised my husband to a voucher for 2 on a two hour sailing trip with Adventures in Sailing around Mount Pleasant and Charleston, SC. I found out about them from a TravelZoo promotion. It was a nice, relaxing time. I really like the fact that it's BYOB so we were able to bring our beverage of choice with us. We also brought some snacks to munch on. We thought 2 hours was going to breeze by really fast but it was ample time. We were the first group o...

Tom Hum or Chinese Lobster can be found at Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant in Charlotte

Posted by Master Pet on Saturday, July 6, 2013,
We found an okay tom hum (Chinese lobster) place in Charlotte, NC. It's not comparable to Santa Ana, California but it fixes the craving. At Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant, you can order fresh lobsters and have them cooked in two styles: either ginger and scallions or Cantonese style. We picked the Cantonese style. It was kind of expensive for their lobsters though. They have one set price of $50.95 for a 2.5lb lobsters the day we came in. Eeek! I remember when I can get 12.99 a lb in Santa Ana b...

Pretty fountain at Florence Darlington Technical College (FDTC)

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Saturday, July 6, 2013,
If you read an older blog post of mine, you already know that I've been thinking about starting school at FDTC for this fall. After getting accepted into the school, I decided to go get my ID before it gets too busy so I drove to the main campus and walked to the Student Services building. I was very glad to have walked by the fountain on my way there. It made the place so tranquil and welcoming. I can picture myself sitting here often with my lunch.

Here's the picture of the fountain as I ma...

Palmetto Subs on West Evans St pleases the buds

Posted by Master Pet on Sunday, May 5, 2013, In : Food
We went to Palmetto Subs for the first time over the weekend and we were so happy to find a great sandwich place in Florence, SC. My husband and I ordered the large #19 (their special sub) and split it. It was delicious. They know how to thinly slice their meat, veggies and provide great service. We will be back again. I want to try their tuna sandwich. (The size below is only half of the full large sandwich we bought. They kindly put it in two different plates.)

I'm really impressed with FDTC's enrollment office

Posted by SCBeachtrips.com on Monday, April 8, 2013, In : College
Even though I don't find out if I got accepted to my particular program of choice for FDTC until 2 months from today, I've been accepted by the school to be able to enroll in general education classes which is a great start!

Today is when pre-registration starts and I decided to go to FDTC's main campus for the first time to see which classes I can get enrolled in before I find out about my radiology program's decision. The enrollment office was busy! There were about 20 students waiting arou...

Myrtle Beach - There is so much to do!

Posted by SCBeachtrips.com on Friday, April 5, 2013, In : Myrtle Beach
We went on a day trip to Myrtle Beach since it was only an hour away from where we live and it's unbelievable big! The boardwalk has a lot of shops, rides, walking areas and a nearby entertainment center called Broadway on the Beach (about a mile from the boardwalk).

The only thing that I wasn't prepared for is the traffic. The streets are narrow and there are sometimes only one lane for each direction so you can imagine the congestion. There are a lot of hotels in the area too. See this sect...

Midnight Rooster is a great spot for coffee and food in historic Hartsville, SC

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Saturday, March 23, 2013, In : Food
We went to Midnight Rooster for the first time yesterday for lunch and it was really busy! The front entrance is very welcoming with clear signs to show you where you should go if you only want coffee and where to go for food. We immediately went straight to the back for a place to sit for food.
(front of entrance)
The only table left was a chess table, a perfect top for two. While waiting for our waiter to come, we quickly arranged the chess pieces and started playing at once. What a memorab...

Hartsville, SC is a "small town with a big heart"

Posted by SCBeachTrips.com on Saturday, March 23, 2013,
Hartsville is known as the small town with a big heart. I went to Hartsville, SC today for the first time to visit their downtown area and I was so happy I did. Although the town is small, it has a lot of neat restaurants and shops. The town looks very clean and you can tell that it's a great neighborhood here.

With a population of less than 5,000 people, this town offers more than you expect. With a lot of great mom and pop restaurants and great attention from nearby ...

Southend Brewery & Restaurant is a must go in Charleston, SC

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Tuesday, February 26, 2013,
We went to the Southend Brewery & Restaurant in Charleston for lunch and we were really impressed with the decor inside. It was very spacious and multistory. It's a great place to have large parties or special celebrations with a lover. They also have a great selection of beer and they boldly display their breweries.

It's fascinating. Make sure you look down when you're on the second story. It's a great view of patrons having a great meal and a large staff. They also have elevators here so ...

Even on a rainy day, Charleston is still beautiful.

Posted by SCbeachtrips.com on Tuesday, February 26, 2013,
We visited Charleston last weekend and it was my first time there. My husband lived there for two years because of Nuke School. It definitely is obvious that it's the oldest city in the US but it's beautiful, even on a rainy or cloudy day. It rained for most of the weekend when we were there in February. The town is busy at night on weekends and many come to the Social Bar for their bachelorette parties when we visited.

Picture above is view of the ocean. Picture below is of the main street ...
